Community & Professional Standards
Community & Professional Standards
Why this exists
Relevé is a standards body for the dance industry. To belong here is to affirm the standard we hold the field to — not a list of rules we police on a website, but the professional values that make this community worth being part of.
These are forward-looking. We do not ask anyone to account for their past. We ask everyone to rise to the standard, together, from here.
The standard
As a member of Relevé, I affirm that I will:
- Represent myself honestly — my training, credentials, experience, and the work I present are truthfully my own.
- Treat others with respect and dignity — students, families, colleagues, studios, and fellow artists, across every difference.
- Protect the dancers in my care — their safety, their wellbeing, and the trust placed in me as a professional.
- Honor creative work and intellectual property — I license, credit, and use choreography and creative material properly, and I expect the same respect for my own.
- Deal with integrity — rates, bookings, and agreements handled with transparency and good faith.
- Uphold the standing of this field — carrying myself, in my professional life, in a way that reflects the craft and the community we are building.
What this is — and is not
This is a statement of professional standards, affirmed by members of a standards body. It is not an employment policy, a background check, or a judgment of anyone's history — Relevé is not an employer or a hiring platform, and we ask no one to disclose dismissals, misconduct, or criminal history, here or anywhere. We affirm a shared standard; we do not investigate the past.
Membership may be reviewed or withdrawn if a member acts in clear and serious violation of these standards within the Relevé community. That review is conducted with fairness and care.
This is the standard we rise to — together.
