Geoffrey Doig-Marx is a choreographer, director, educator, and performing artist whose career in dance and theatre spans more than four decades. He has served on the dance faculty of Marymount Manhattan College since 2001 and Montclair State University since 2011, teaching and mentoring generations of dancers while sharing his extensive professional experience in jazz, musical theatre, performance, and choreography. As a choreographer and director, Geoffrey has created work for stage, concert dance, special events, and theatrical productions. He served for ten years as Artistic Director of The Mantis Project Dance Company, where he developed and presented original choreography, and for six years was the creator and Artistic Director of The Elan Awards, celebrating excellence and achievement in the performing arts. Geoffrey began his career as a dancer and musical theatre performer and has spent his professional life on both sides of the creative table—as performer, choreographer, director, producer, and educator. His teaching emphasizes musicality, performance quality, individuality, technique, and the importance of understanding the history and traditions that shape jazz and theatrical dance. Whether working with college students, professional performers, or emerging artists, Geoffrey brings a practical, performance-based approach to the studio, encouraging dancers to develop not only strong technique but also confidence, artistry, versatility, and their own authentic voice.
